Albert Sailing Club has its annual Regatta for monohull dinghy classes on Albert Park Lake on Saturday 22nd (pm) and Sunday 23rd June (am and pm). This is the weekend before the mid year school holidays commence.
OK class sailors are again invited to sail in this popular Regatta. The regatta follows a short race format with races of 30 to 45 minutes in three half day sessions. On Saturday there will be an Information Session at 1:00 pm on followed by the first session from 1:45. There is then racing on Sunday morning from 10:15 am and an afternoon session, with the aim for sailing to finish at around 3:30.
The Albert Sailing Club clubhouse is warm and spacious for support crews, with close viewing from the clubhouse and the foreshore, and plenty of cheap parking behind the club. The water level in Albert Park Lake has been down this year. The good rain on the first weekend of June has brought the depth up to a good level for sailing with centreboards at or close to fully down, with the level continuing to rise towards full capacity.
Go to www.albertsc.org.au for further information including the Notice of Race The online entry system, and Sailing Instructions will be available from 12 June. The club website also includes information about the Albert Sailing Club winter season which continues weekly till mid September with options for visitors to enter single or multiple races or join as a winter member.
It's looking like a fine weekend of winter sailing this Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 14 deg. and sunny. Winds on the light side, but should still be pleasant sailing on the lake. Get your entries in online at Winter Regatta Online Entry You can also enter on the day, but online is preferred, it helps the tower crew get organised early
