Hi there,
I am new to OK's, but I have decided to buy one because I want a single-hander, fairly high performance boat, that has a swing centreboard.
I am going to race (not very seriously) in a club, with no other OKs at moment. There are Lasers, Tasars, an Impulse etc
I'm on a very limited budget , about $1 - 2 K.
I would greatly appreciate any advice re - what to avoid, what to check for etc
Cheers
Mark

It's Mark again.
I am actually wondering if i get an old, cheap boat whether it will be so uncompetitive, that it will be a waste of money.
I will definitely get a fibreglass hull, maybe a wooden deck.
I'm wondering if the newer carbon fibre masts have made the old aluminium ones obsolete.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Hi Mark Good choice to sail an OK. There are some good buys around, where are you situated, which state. If you want to sail at a National level I would recommend a carbon mast but this will double your budget. when looking for a boat make sure the boat has not been neglected outside especially near the mast step. Once we know where you are I'm sure we can find you so,etching suitable. Andre
