It is going to be pretty tough for some of the interstate guys to make it by the 27th. For me coming from Adelaide its about 1550 km which is a healthy 2 day drive. I will have to leave at the crack of dawn Boxing Day to make it by the evening of the 27th with the first day of actual racing on the 28th. I dont mind missing the practicew race I guess but it would have been nice to sail once before the regatta starts. I guess my other option is to try and get my boat transported up there and to fly in fly out, which I will now look at.....
Hi Mark, There are a number of concerns that have been raised with regards to this event so nothing is finalised as yet. The concerns are about dates(as you mention), number of boats (there are Impulses there as well), accommodation etc etc Hopefully more to report soon.
the dates are concerning the finn guys as well, some guys will be heading south in the big race,so that counts them out
to the guys who are concerned about the drive from adelaide, dont be.its a day and a half travelling which will leave plenty of time to get a practise sail in
accomodation in the area will be a prob, with a population of 4 million just 1 and 1/2 hours away and at this time of the year, its scarce and at a premium. maybe driving to and from wsc will be required, but with the freeway close by this will open alot more options at this time of the year with the mass exodus out of sydney, its easier to get accom. in sydney,
Hi there The idea is that your boat mast sails etc come to the nationals measured and you have a valid measurement certificate. The reason is that it is just a bit too hard to do a measurement at the event which is time consuming and requires various equipment. Also the measurers in our class sail themselves. Depending where you live measurement can always be arranged before the nationals. Tim Davies in NSW, Andre Blasse in Vic and me and David Ketteridge in SA. Just let us know where you are and we can take it from there. Cheers and welcome to the class. Mark
Note the following changes Boom bands, now measured from pin location. Goose neck pin hole loaction (To make existing masts comply with rules) Corrector location and fixing. No wing nuts (must be permanently fixed) and with in an area. Mast play, method of measurement.
Note most of these should not impact you, but please check them. We will do some spot checks before and during the regatta.
