The annual Single Handed Regatta is again being hosted by South Lake Macquarie ASC on the weekend of the 30th and 31st of October. NOR attached. Being the largest regatta in Australia catering to sailors of single handed dinghys a great fleet consisting of Moths, Spirals, Lasers (in their various forms), International Canoe's, Contenders, Impulses and Sabers have all competed on a yardstick that is more in line with reality than the outdated VYC figures. This has given wins in races to all classes and no single class dominating the final results. The best sailor wins and it is a great social weekend with like minded sailors in some very different craft.
Yeah hi I'll support the event in the OK if the Assoc. is keen to support the Regatta. Pls post here so we can gauge interest. Otherwise I might turn up in the other boat. Penguin the recently Ambidextrous. PS work that one out RF

Thanks for the sentiments Penguin. However, the turn out for this year's single-hander already looks promising. The usual classes will be at Sunshine with many such as the Impulses and Contenders using the weekend for their states. The Finns are also coming and will also be doing states. The regatta is also on the Laser program.
At this point classes are not coming to support the event but rather to use the weekend as a platform to promote themselves because every other like minded sailor will be there too. So in other words if you own an OK in the local area, turn up to support your own class.
Ah.. the Penguin is Ambidextrous.. what hidden meanings here? Could it be he now has both hands on it? Or two right hands to go with his two left feet? Or perhaps confused as the South Pole becomes the North Pole and vice versa during the planets realignment which happens every million years or so? Can't be the last one as that would make the Penguin bi polar, not ambidextrous.
Only 4 sleeps before the first heat of the SHR. Hope you have the wet suit dry after last weekend and are ready to eat a couple of pies as early forecasts have a weekend of great nor’easters on the cards. With the Finns, Lasers, and Impulses all looking to be well represented it will be a challenging start and first work for division 2. The OK's will be in their elements in this close racing scenario.
A big thank you to the OK sailors who attended this years Zhik Single Handed Regatta. Peter Robinson took the honours in the OK fleet. On corrected times the leading Moths were still winning by large margins in 3 of the 4 races (up to 6 minutes on corrected time with a 60 yardstick) but with one race where they could not foil consistently Contenders took the title after a good showing in the 3 races in 15+ knots and reasonable results also in the lighter race which was won overall by a Finn. With the results now in, the results have been submitted to VYC Yardstick officials and the SLMASC yardsticks will be amended to again keep in line with performances of the classes represented.
